Email blacklisted due to spam

Post by chris0147 » 2018/10/17 20:53:09

Hi all,

I need your help as I am having a hard time with receiving my email on gmail, outlook and aol.

I have hired someone from a freelancer to configured on my server to resolved the issues for spf, dkim, dmarc, smtp, rdns and ptr. When I tested on mail-tester, I got 10/10 and it have passed the tests on mail-tester.com and mxtoolbox so I was good to go.

When I sent an email to yahoo, I have received my email in my inbox but when I sent an email to my gmail, outlook and aol from webmail, the email goes to spam folder.

I have changed to a different IP of my VPS and I used a different domain name. I have also configured on spf, dkim, dmarc, smtp, rdns and ptr to match with a different domain name. I've checked the tests on mxtoolbox and mail-tester.com so I was good to go. I sent the email to yahoo that I received the email inbox with no problem. When I sent the email to gmail, outlook and aol, it still landing in a spam folder so I dont know what is going on.

My VPS IPs did not get blacklisted as I have checked on mxtoolbox and my domain are not blacklisted as I have not used that domain to send the email. Do you know why my email goes to spam and how I can get the email to get to inbox?

Please can you help me, I am really fed up and sick of doing for weeks without find a solution :(

Generally, you should ask the recipient why they think the mail is spam.

When I have a look at my gmail account I see (real) spam with labels like "Several emails from domain xxx have previously been marked as spam", "This message looks like messages that have previously been marked as spam" and "This seems like a dangerous phishing email" (translations mine). If you view the full message including headers on gmail, you may see some hints for why your email was marked as spam, if there is a technical reason and not a reputation problem.

Their "postmaster" sites may also give some insight into why your email gets blocked:

https://postmaster.outlook.com/ https://sendersupport.olc.protection.ou ... vices.aspx https://sendersupport.olc.protection.outlook.com/snds/

https://postmaster.aol.com/

https://gmail.com/postmaster/

You would need to find out the reason why your email gets blocked by them. That's outside the scope of this forum as it's not really specific to CentOS.

OK I confess I don't know the answer to your question, however if it was broadcast to yahoo, gmail, outlook, etc. all at the same time the yahoo server would be flagged. Why?? Yahoo is SPAM Central. It has has so many data breaches etc, that people are frequently told to change their passwords ASAP!!

The ONLY thing I use Yahoo for is a giant junk collector -- if site XYZ *requires* an email address, and it is non-critical information, then I use my Yahoo account. Once every 3-4 months I'll log into Yahoo and delete all the trash. If my account gets hacked, all they get is a bunch of junk info -- no b-days, credit cards, no nothing on it -- even my name and birthday and year are WRONG!! In in fact I do not store personal information on any server if I can help it, and even that is limited to ONLY my name and birthday -- I refuse to store credit card numbers on any website that can be hacked. How BAD is the situation?!? Many years ago I had an account with Match.com, and used a fake name; similarly I was interested in possibly buying a used car, and used a different fake name. Now I gets tons of SPAM for things such as porn sites, ED treatments, "Adult Dating" etc, etc, etc. addressed to either my user name, or addressed to one of many of the fake names I've used. Conclusion: both Match.com and The Unknown Auto Dealer either sold or were hacked to some ad company who then sold my personal information to some group or another who then targeted their ad pitch to me. My junk mail folder ends up with 150-250 pieces of SPAM each and every day. My "BLOCKED" list grew too large that it can not hold any more. My solution was to download Thunderbird , and and use it as a SMART filter: 2-3 times a day I check to see if I have any mail in my Junk Folder, if there is junk in there I start up Thunderbird --> Click on the "Display Thunderbird Menu" --> Drop down to "Tools" --> Find "Run Junk Mail Controls On Folder", and the more you flag what is and is NOT junk in the Junk Mail folder, it will flag 95% of all the stuff in the in the Junk Mail Folder that is SPAM (95%+ is from porn sites, "Adult Dating" sites, etc., but also 95% from the various political parties, and candidates, etc. (I'm a registered INDEPENDENT so I get hit from EVERYBODY and their brother, from all across the U.S. to PLEASE send us money...), and it FLAGS it all leaving only a handful of things I want to read in the Junk Mail Folder --> Add any other pieces of SPAM I am not interested in for Thunderbird to "Learn" --> once marked I go back to "Display Thunderbird Menu --> Tools --> "Delete Mail Marked As Junk from Folder --> Hit Enter... and PRESTO it is GONE! This takes me *maybe* 2 minutes tops to decide what to keep and read and what to get rid of right off the bat. Anybody who has even read the subject headers of 100+ emails, let alone delete them knows how much time this takes.

Combine Thunderbird with controls in your various email servers that allow you to designate what is and is not safe to keep and send to your inbox should probably solve your problems. I think servers such as Hotmail, Gmail, etc. in a designated "SAFE" list, then ALL other stuff is to be designated as UNSAFE and is suppose to be sent to the SPAM folder. Just a guess.
