@pgreco thanks for this. As centos8 is now out, I would love to see it running on my pi4 .pgreco wrote: ↑2019/08/18 11:56:24As @toracat said, we still don't have support for it, but the work in progress is actually working
What we have now is a regenerated image (https://people.centos.org/pgreco/images ... sda.raw.xz) with firmware new enough to boot rpi4, but with a kernel that doesn't support it
And then a kernel https://buildlogs.centos.org/c7-exp.arm ... l7.armhfp/
If you boot an older rpi with that image, and update to the linked kernel, it should boot the rpi4
That process works, and has been tested by some (I should have my rpi4 to test in a few weeks).
With that said, today I generated a new image (https://people.centos.org/pgreco/images ... sda.raw.xz) which mixes all the bits I said before, so it should boot.
This doesn't mean that it is supported, or that it will be in the near future , just sharing what we have so far.
Pablo.
CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support

Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
hi - this seems to be a 32bit version, is there a 64 bit version for raspberry pi 4 yet? Our software only runs on the 64 bit version. Thanks
Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
No, Raspberry pi's are predominantly 32 bit even though more recent ones do have 64 bit capable processors. In any case, the benefits of a 64 bit distro don't start to show until you have sufficient RAM to make it worthwhile and that cut off point is... 4GB.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
Yes but the new Pi 4 has 4gig of RAM. So is there only the 32bit version referred to above?
Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
Is there anyone working on a 64 bit version of Centos 7 for Rpi 4?
Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
I have 6 of Pi4's
All of them are booting ok,
I think its all about how ur creating the SSD.
I'm formatting using "SD Card Formatter2
Then using "balenaEtcher-Portable-1.5.57" to put content of images on SD
It is actually creating 2 partitions, for booting fat32 and an other one for CentOS
it should work just fine
You may also want to check your micro HDMI cable if it is working with other devices
Network interface is always disabled on these images so ssh won't work
you would need to log in using root:centos creds and activate nic first to get the IP
Hope that helps

Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
Hello new to the board, I booted the PI4 up and its asking for the login name and password, can you provide that please pgreco. Thanks for your hard work
Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
I would expect it to be one of centos/centos, root/centos or centos/blank

Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
Question was already answered on a different page, I just did not notice it until after I posted this.
Re: CentOS7 Raspberry Pi 4 4GB Support
I have a question
Not sure have to open a new thread or ask here but going to ask here
Raspberry released a new firmware, top important features are:
1. Reduced operating temperature
2. Finally implemented boot with Network Drive, so no more SD be needed, which is very useful considering that Pi has no power safe build in and power failure leads to corruption on SD's
Can we use rpi-update on CentOS without screwing up something ?
