Post by num8er » 2012/05/03 19:03:19

Hello everybody

Cannot install CentOS 6.2

Getting Kernel Panic not syncing: fatal exception in interrupt

Tried following steps:
1. changed RAM modules
2. changed HDD
3. changed keyboard, mouse
4. played with BIOS params

but nothing happened...

I've attached screenshot of problem.

Hardware params:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Q67M-D2H-B3
CPU: Core i5 2500 3.30GHz 6Mb/5.00GT/GPU/LGA1155 (CM8062300834203)

Regarding "changing RAM modules", I recommend running memtest at least overnight,
preferably for 24 hrs to really eliminate the possibility of faulty RAM.

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

It would be a lot easier to read your graphic if you made the resolution a bit lower so it fit on the screen. It is certainly not a fine quality image. :-)

Is the error happening on the installer boot or with the installed system? If the installer, have you tried booting with the basic graphics option? Tried any boot options?

Verify md5 checksums for the installation media. The ISO may be corrupt. You might try installing from different media like a usb flash or dvd-rom drive.
Although problems with the SATA bus and drives probably would not cause a consistent panic.
I would say consistent panics are due more to persistent problems such as damaged memory whether it be main, level 1,2 or 3 cache. Given your configuration it is
not likely to be due to a kernel bug. If it is a problem with the hardware I would bet on the memory heirarchy for consistent panics.

I was having the same problem when i updated my linux kernel version from 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.i686 to a higher version.
My system automatically shuts down at any moment giving the same error Kernel Panic - not syncing and then i have to power off the system manually and then power on to restart working with it.

So now when i am using older version of linux kerner that is 2.6.32-71.29.1.el6.i686 it doesn't give that message but shuts down unevenly sometimes.

So now i think i figured it out it may be because of high temperature of computer it automatically turns it off in newer kernel version may be it shows some details when it does so and in older versions it just doesn't show any details while shutting down in high temperatures. I don't know my thinking is 100% right or not, i am just putting my point what i think.

So now i am using a program to monitor my CPU heating level with gnome-sensor applet as:

libsensors
acpi

the libsensors shows heating level of two cores of my CPU that i understand, bu this acpi thing shows temperature of things like this:
TZ00
TZ01
TZ02

The usual temperature on these things are:
TZ00 68
TZ01 69
TZ02 95
Is it very high.

i want to know what are these things.

The data from my getinfo.sh is as under:
