sound hda intel

Post by ahrboktrexon » 2012/10/30 10:47:41

Hi guys, I do not have sound completely.
I installed a centos 6, with updates I got a 6.3, but now I can not hear anything, I think I have some compatibility problems with drivers for my sound card integrated on the motherboard (hda intel).
I started replacing and adding packages when I saw that my microphone was not working ... on various forums it was recommended to install kmod-alsa, but the mod was causing a kernel crash on startup.

After removing kmod-alsa everything is back to work, but not the microphone. After the last update of pulse and alsa now I have no sound at all.

Can you help? this is the output of getinfo

This is CentOS 6.0 - you badly need to update the system using `yum update`. However, before you do that you probably need to sort out your yum-priorities settings as the only repo that currently has one specified is 'remi' so all the others will get priority=99 and remi will be preferred. The base and updates repos should both be priority=1.

Just bringing in 2 years worth of bug fixes may well fix your problem and if it doesn't then it may solve the crash you had with kmod-alsa.

thank you trevorh for you prompt reply... well I fixed and made some order on yum, now yum status should be ok, I removed some package which was blocking my upgrade and then, finally, I made it.
Update process completed succesfully, but boot sequence fails wit a "kernel panic - not syncing: attempted to kill init"

I already searched for this error on google, someone says the problem is caused by nvidia module, someone says that s.m.a.r.t. can cause the error, someone says that ram can be damaged...
I don't think there is a problem with the hardware, because before upgrading everything but audio was working...
well where can I find salvation?
is something happening about /dev/md*?
when I type "fdisk -l" I see two devices /dev/sda and /dev/md127, but I have only one device :(

Hi TrevorH,
I fixed kernel version issues, I updated the system, installed kmod-alsa with the right kernel version and everything went ok during the update process, but still no sound :-(
can you help?
