Problem Ralink 3090 Operation not possible due to RF-kill

Please do not hijack threads.

How are you attempting to manage the network connection? CentOS-6 defaults to NetworkManager. No CentOS or 3rd party package I can find provides rtnetlink so I have no idea what that failure means.

Sorry for not read the forum rules. I apologize for my carelessness.

I try to connect me with the icon in the upper pane of the desktop but leaves disabled, and when I try to lift the console, as I show in the log I get the error above and I can not lift my wifi connection.

Exactly what happens when you attempt to connect using NetworkManager and the nm-applet icon? Are any wireless networks shown? Is the connection encrypted? Can you connect to an unencrypted access point?

Re: Problem Ralink 3090 Operation not possible due to RF-kill

Post by pschaff » 2012/02/13 11:36:24

Your first post shows kmod-rt3090sta-2.4.0.4-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64 but the script output does not. The ELRepo DeviceIDs does show that it is the correct driver. Try installing it now and rebooting.

It may or may not be relevant to the current problem, but you have multiple 3rd party repos enabled without yum-plugin-priorities. Please read about Installing Software and Repositories, and note the warnings and advice about installing and configuring the yum priorities plugin. Non-core repos should have a higher numeric value, which is a lower priority. Lower is "better" as in golf scores.

# This is the default, if you make this bigger yum won't see if the metadata
# is newer on the remote and so you'll "gain" the bandwidth of not having to
# download the new metadata and "pay" for it by yum not having correct
# information.
# It is esp. important, to have correct metadata, for distributions like
# Fedora which don't keep old packages around. If you don't like this checking
# interupting your command line usage, it's much better to have something
# manually check the metadata once an hour (yum-updatesd will do this).
