A long story short, is I have a RHEL5.x system which is having issues with yum and rhn (recurrent) - we're finally sick of this and want to put CentOS on it. Problem is, I have a /lot/ of stuff on here that I really don't want to have to redo.
So my question is ultimately can I safely install CentOS 5.x over RHEL 5.x -- and if so, which directories can I safely remove. I'm going to guess this will be a big problem due to differences in the repositories, et al. If so, I'll just have to suck it up and redo everything.
Eventually, we will probably go to CentOS 6 as well.
Thanks.
Install CentOS /over/ an existing Redhat installation?
