I'm trying to install CentOS 5.3 on a VmWare Fusion virtual machine, and I get the message "The CentOS CD was not found in any of your CDROM drives." That comes after the "Installation Method" prompt for which I selected "Local CDROM".
I've tried re-booting and recreating the image from scratch. The host is a MacBook PRO with 4GB RAM. I've tried default 256, 512 and 2048 MB of RAM for guest. All CDs were burned from .iso files using Mac's Disk Utility application (never had a problem before). I selected generic Linux 2.6.x kernel for OS in Fusion's setup screen. I've also tried "linux mediacheck" and the same thing happens. VmWare Fusion is V 1.1.3 (94249).
Don't know about Fusion but in VMware Workstation the best choice for OS is either "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5" or "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 64-bit" depending on whether you want i386 or x86_64. VMware Server only goes up through EL4 but the same principle applies.
