""""Problem""""
The Disk is appearing and disappearing on the WIndows 2008R2. I have also tried to create a small size lun around 5GB but still same problem. This problem is occuring on WIndows2008R2 machine. I have also created luns for Windows 2008 (32bit) which is working fine. WHat I feel that the tgt SAN is not able to support windows 2008 64bit OR either any seeting is required on tgt SAN/Windows2008R2

I'm not familiar with the specifics of tgtd but one thing I notice right off the bat is that your server is missing updates from the past 2 years as you are on version 5.3 instead of 5.8. The first thing to do would be to get your system up to date.

Then look in /var/log/messages and dmesg and see if there is anything showing up at or around the times when the disconnects are happening. This may give you an indication of what the actual problem is.

Go ahead and post up what you find in messages & dmesg and someone here may be able to help you further.

Aside from being seriously obsolete, as Cheile pointed out, you are not running CentOS. If you have Red Hat support you should use it. If not then migrate to CentOS and see the CentOS 5.6 Release Notes Section 4 for details on the recommended update procedure, and CentOS 5.8 Release Notes for other information.

If more help is needed after the migration and update, then please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh" and showing us the output file.

My problem is resolved via another way. I actually create a datastore on esxi server and add the LUN to that datastore.

Then I created an additional Hard Disk on the VM and pointed the hard disk storage space towards the data store. Kindly find the below link for snaps for a reference so that this Idea may help others who may face the LUN appearing and disappearing on a Windows 2008R2 machine :
