Hi,
Heres a head scratcher...
I've had my server running AHCI for over a year. I moved the HDD into another server due to a needed CPU upgrade, so the motherboard chipset etc was all dfiferent.
By mistake the new BIOS had IDE mode set. The server has booted but isn't performing well due to being in IDE.
I tried changing back to AHCI and its kernel panicing, tried previous kernels and it just wont boot.
Any help at all guys?
Centos 5.8, 32bit.
Heres what the console shows: http://i47.tinypic.com/120kvf9.jpg

Change the BIOS settings to the way you want them to be, boot from the install media in rescue mode and rebuild the initrd following the steps in this wiki article. Probably want to mv the existing initrd file to a new name so that you have a way to boot in "slow" mode if it doesn't work.
