Postby and1_hotsauce » 2012/02/20 08:39:28

Hi
I'm very new to linux and recently installed centos. I'm trying to get the wireless internet to work, however, I'm not too sure how to.

I have intel pro/wireless lan 2100 3b mini pci adapter and a dell latitude d400 laptop

any help will be appreciated

Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature.

Please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh" and showing us the output file.

hi thanks for your reply

it took over 3 days but i finally managed to complete this

I installed ipw2100 firmware from the website below

http://linux1.fnal.gov/linux/lts46/i386 ... 1.3-5.html

installed it

typed in
modprobe -r ipw2100; modprobe ipw2100

then you need to enable network manager which can be found on this site
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/Wireless

look for the heading Intel Pro Wireless 2100 (ipw2100)

Might want to consider getting that from ELRepo ipw2100-firmware.

Thanks for reporting back. Marking this thread [SOLVED] for posterity.
