I'm using yum to install php-xml, and it doesn't seem to make a difference in the apache php module. My php executable shows the following:
$ php -i
...
'--enable-dom=shared' ... '--enable-xmlreader=shared' '--enable-xmlwriter=shared'
...
However, when I view phpinfo() in my web browser (after restarting httpd), I get the following:
'--disable-dom' ... '--disable-xmlreader' '--disable-xmlwriter'
Do I need to recompile from the source rpm? It seems strange to me that the php binary would have different compilation options than libphp5.so. Rebuilding from the source rpm isn't a big deal, but I'd prefer to use yum exclusively.
Thanks,
Aaron

Re: Installing php-xml
php -i calls CLI version of PHP. And Apache seem to be calling it's cgi version.
Anyway, after you installed php-xml extension you need to ensure it is activated in php.ini. Have you? --disable-xmlreader in phpinfo just says, that xmlreader extension is not statically compiled.

Re: Installing php-xml
It was a problem with my /etc/php.d directory, which contains all the .ini extension activation statements. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
