Help: Install Centos 7 Raid 1 with UEFI boot

Post by jeret » 2017/03/27 14:58:16

Hi , need some help to install centos 7 on a new server, i have tried many different configurations and also tried following some guide here :

1. http://danilodellaquila.com/en/blog/cen ... -with-raid
2. http://www.ictdude.com/howto/install-ce ... -raid-lvm/
3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-N08aU1h50&t=207s

I still cannot get it to work/boot. it boots with "no efi bootable device". i even select boot options and select to centos but still the same. Can someone give me a working guide on how to install centos on server raid 1 with efi or without efi that works.

thank you.

Software or hardware RAID? If hardware, post the output from lspci -nn | grep -i raid
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

First, i have set the raid 1 in the server HP embedded application, 2 Hard Drive of 1TB each, created the logical drive. Than proceeded to install centos 7. On centos 7 page i did select both drives, all config for raid, lmv is done on the centos 7 page. Tried both standard configuration & LMV configuration.

Does not boot to centos after installation. it display "no efi bootable device found"

Tried both standard configuration & LMV configuration.

So allegedly hardware RAID then? We'll need the output I asked for in that case.

This centos 7 is a minimal install. how do i boot and get the output of the command since the system is not bootable? It does not even go to the grub menu. i'm not sure if there is another way?

Boot the install DVD in rescue mode and run it from there.

hello there .. so i have called HP support, and they told me to disable the processor power monitoring. This did the trick. I can install and boot from centos 7 now. IT boots and i am able to login to root.

I have one concern tho , that after choosing the centos boot menu, i get a message before it goes to the root login.

the error message is : failure reading sector 0x0 from 'hd1'.

and here's the command it output from your command that you told me to run ..

That looks to me like you do not have a hardware RAID card, you have a FakeRAID card. Is it an HP RAID controller whose model number starts with a B?

The lspci output you posted doesn't show any hardware RAID card, only the motherboard SATA controller operating in "RAID mode" which means firmware/software RAID a.k.a "fake RAID".
